Este domingo 15 de mayo se hizo la entrega de los premios Billboard 2022 desde el MGM Grand Garden Arena en Las Vegas, Nevada. El periodo de elección corrió del 10 de abril de 2021 al 26 de marzo de 2022 para un total de 62 categorías.
Los más nominados fueron The Weeknd con 17 (solamente obtuvo un premio) y Doja Cat con 14 menciones. Justin Bieber, Kanye West y Olivia Rodrigo tuvieron 13 cada uno.
La ganadora de la noche fue la joven Olivia Rodrigo, quien se adjudicó 7 preseas. Le siguió Ye (antes Kanye West), con 6.
Drake y la canción de the kid Laroy & Justin Biever, “Stay”, obtuvieron 5 trofeos.
Con 4 reconocimientos tuvimos a Taylor Swift y Doja Cat (uno de ellos fue en conjunto con SZA).
El grupo de K-Pop, BTS, ganó 3 premios.
Y con 2 trofeos: The Rolling Stones (ambos por su gira No Filter Tour), Dua Lipa (uno en conjunto con Elton John), Bruno Mars (uno de ellos con su proyecto Silk Sonic, en colaboración con Anderson .Paak), Kali Uchis y Bad Bunny.
El Premió al Ícono de la música, fue otorgado a Mary J. Blige. Asimismo, la recipiente del Premio Changemaker fue para Mari Copeny, una joven de 14 años dedicada a la justicia por el medio ambiente. Copeny se describe como “filántropa, activista y futura presidenta (de Estados Unidos)”.
